What a Banker Needs to Know

There has been a renewed focus towards sustainability within the world of finance. With climate change becoming more apparent with each passing day, the world is looking towards financial markets to drive capital towards projects that have a positive Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) impact.

This course will help bankers develop a stronger understanding of sustainable finance, and its relevance in capital markets today. Further, it will cover key sustainable investment products available, how to analyze them and metrics to be used to measure both performance and risk.

Pre-Requisites

Participants will require a good understanding of the broader capital markets and basic knowledge of bonds in terms of how they work.

Rahul is a DCM-banker with 20 years of experience, including stints at global premier banks such as Credit Suisse, Nomura and Citi. In his previous role, he was the Global Head of International Corporates, Financial Market Sales at Standard Chartered Bank, where his team was based across all the major dealing rooms and covered the Fixed Income needs of large corporate clients.

Raahil Shah, CFA

Vice President, BondEvalue

Raahil manages the global information services business at BondEvalue. He is passionate about the bond markets and is the chief editor of the Bond Market Daily newsletter that is sent to over 30,000 bond investors and professionals globally. He is also responsible for the company’s ESG initiatives in terms of data and trainings. Prior to joining BondEvalue, he has worked across equity & credit research. He is also a CFA charterholder.

 

Matthew Dearth

Matthew Dearth, PhD

MD & Singapore Head – Silvercrest Asset Management

Dr. Matthew Dearth is a Managing Director at Silvercrest Asset Management (Singapore) and head of the Singapore office. His 30 years of industry experience includes leadership roles at Marshall Wace, Goldman Sachs, and Booz Allen & Hamilton. In 2013, Dr. Dearth established TRQ Advisors LLC where he advised global asset managers, family offices, hedge funds and fintech companies on product development, performance attribution analysis, and portfolio manager decision making. Additionally, he began teaching postgraduate finance courses on alternative investments as well as sustainable and impact investing at Singapore Management University in 2016. He is the co-author of “Getting Started in Alternative Investments” (Wiley, 2023) and has published three case studies on investment management topics. Dr. Dearth holds a PhD (General Management) from Singapore Management University, an MBA from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and Operations Research from Princeton University.
