Mexico´s airline Aerovías de México, S.A. de C.V (Aeromexico) has exited bankruptcy protection. It plans to spend $5bn by 2027 for fleet modernization and other upgrades. During the pandemic, Aeromexico filed for bankruptcy and in November 2021 got the proposal to exit bankruptcy. It also got approval for $4.2bn in capital infusion in January 2022. In 2021, the company signed a deal with Boeing for 28 fleets, and in 2022 will receive 22 of them taking their total aircraft tally to 147 by December 2022. Aeromexico also said that they will restart some international routes which were previously frozen due to Covid and also add new routes going forward. Rene Armas Maes, commercial VP and aeronautical consultant at Jet Link International said that fleet upgrades could reduce fuel costs and further technology implementation can pull down unit costs to compete with low-cost airlines companies.
Aeromexico´s bond was flat – its 7% 2025 was at 100.94 up 0.05 points, yielding 5.68%.
