Braskem Idesa’s dollar bonds were the top gainers yesterday, rallying by over 2.5-5 points. The company is said to have received interest from petroleum companies PIC from Kuwait and Saudi’s Aramco to acquire a stake in it, as per newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo. The Brazilian petrochemical maker is said to have received non-binding offers. The report added that shareholders are concerned that discussions may be affected by the establishment of a congressional commission to investigate possible damages caused by Braskem’s rock salt mining operations in Maceio city. PIC and Aramco join Abu Dhabi National Oil Co, which offered $2.1bn to acquire a 38.3% stake in Braskem in November 2023.
